Ultimate miter saw

Ultimate Mitre Saw Setup

Hey everyone! Just wrapped up a new project in the shop that I think you’ll love if you’re into compact, practical builds: the ultimate mitre saw stand! I wanted something versatile yet space-saving, and after seeing the price of pre-made stands, I decided to make my own.

The Design

I built this stand around a garage trolley, which turned out to be an ideal base. Not only are these trolleys affordable, but they also come with wheels and extra storage. That meant I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel—literally—saving both time and money. Here’s what I added:
  • Extendable Arms: Perfect for handling longer materials when needed but compact enough to save space in storage.
  • Adjustable Length Stop: This feature makes repeated cuts easy and precise, a huge time-saver on any project.

Why the Garage Trolley?

Garage trolleys are budget-friendly and provide the mobility and storage needed for a small workshop setup. By using one as the base, I have everything I need right under the saw—tools, clamps, and accessories—all stored within easy reach. Plus, it’s super easy to wheel it out of the way when not in use.

See the Build in Action!

I filmed the whole build process, so if you’re interested in creating your own, head over to my Youtube channel or check out the video below. I’ll show you exactly how I modified the trolley, installed the extendable arms, and set up the adjustable stop. Hope you enjoy this build as much as I enjoyed making it! Drop a comment if you decide to give it a try, or let me know if you have any questions.
